And it was also apparent that after someone's heart and dreams went into developing that land, something else happened. In my mind I imagine I saw a person burdened with too much debt after the housing market crashed, or perhaps a heart attack, or maybe this person had simply over extended themselves, but for one reason or another, the land just stood there abandoned.
Someone had begun with all the best intentions, but somewhere along the way, their dream... their vision expired. The fancy bricks that cost so much to put up around the property was graphitied. The wires were stripped. Trash gathered in corners of the plots, depressing the land, stealing the life of hope away from it.
Sometimes life can get in the way of our good intentions. We start out this life thinking that we can change the world, and somewhere along the way, the need to pay bills, the need to care for our children, the need to be what others would consider stable, robs us of our ability to dream and eventually, our desires can end up standing alone and abandoned like that desolate plot of land I drove by that day. What are you doing today to keep your dream alive?
