There is a very clear secret to writing a sex scene. Don't hit your audience over the head with it out of the blue. When done properly, tastefully, the reader can take that ride with you. When written simply for shock value, it can be like rounding the corner and catching your parents on the dinning room table.
There are times when a quick out of no where sex scene can have value, but even in these, be careful. There is a difference between introducing us with a deep and passionate love scene that exposes the soul of the main character, and makes you love and root for the main character right away, and a rough and dirty sex scene that makes the reader want to turn quickly to the part where they are not having sex any more.
Sex in your book should always be an expression, a beginning, or an end. It is always better when you give your reader an opportunity to get vested in the main characters, a chance to hope that they can stay together in true love, or the feeling of tragedy when they are separated. Make the sex scenes in your book have a purpose.
